Information we collect
When you submit a listing, we store the pet photo, pet name, owner display name or handle, caption, bid amount, payment reference, submission time and moderation status. If you like a pet, a random identifier is kept in your browser and stored only as a one-way hash on our server so that browser can remember its likes. It is not an account. If you contact us, we store your email address and message. Our hosting and security providers may process basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, request time and security logs.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. Stripe may collect your name, email, billing details and payment information under its own privacy policy.
How we use information
- To publish and rank pet listings.
- To confirm payments and prevent duplicate processing.
- To review reports, enforce the rules and prevent abuse.
- To respond to questions and meet legal obligations.
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
Public content
Pet photos, pet names, owner display names, captions, ranks and bid amounts are public. Do not submit information that you do not want displayed publicly.
Retention
Leaderboard records are retained while the permanent board operates. Removed content and payment records may be kept where reasonably needed for security, disputes, accounting or legal compliance. Contact messages and reports are retained only as long as needed to deal with them.
Sharing
We use service providers for hosting, file storage, security and payment processing. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law or needed to protect users, animals, the public or the service.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, object to processing or complain to a regulator. Use the contact form and identify the relevant listing.
Children
Outbid.pet is not intended for children under 18 to make payments or submit listings without a parent or guardian.
